The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Liberal Leadership Debate

Liberal Leadership Debate

James Bredin

The Liberal leadership debate was all in French,
Their bilingual policies locked in with a wrench,
Most Canadians got much more than we deserve,
Needed a translator to understand and observe.

Itís a Liberal excuse for forbidding the vote,
For their prime minister and theyíve got us by the throat,
As the future prime minister speaks in Vichy French,
Pushes UN policies of going to the Congo in a trench.

With few soldiers, fewer ships and planes that fall out of the sky,
Canít change the system, the Charter or say goodbye,
No recall or proportional representation,
Politicians in committees in Ottawa in isolation.
