The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Canadians have no power

Canadians have no power

James Bredin

Why donít Canadians elect their prime minister?
Why leave it to others, sour sneaky and sinister?
Is this not a done deal in dumb down democracy?
And who controls this bureaucracy of autocracy?

Guess who decides if Canadians will have an election?
The one they didnít elect in their overall selection,
Why donít Canadians elect even one senator?
A job they claim is more important than a janitor.

ĎCause senators are selected by the same guy for life,
Till they turn 75 or die from complete lack of strife.
And then he appoints for life those Supreme Court judges,
Without questions or answers in their biased and left wing fudges.

Is it possible for Canadians to arrange a change?
In their system of government or is this too strange?
Will referendums or recall ever be permitted?
Or will refugees and terrorists continue to be admitted?
