The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Canadian Political Truth
Canadian Political Truth
If a politician claims the truth, itís probably a lie,
Heíll say anything that suits him to avoid saying goodbye,
He may be brain dead and his mouth on automatic,
And truth is incidental when youíre big and autocratic.
And missing millions and billions are also incidental,
All added to the Access Act -- then completely confidential,
The money went here and there - probably to a worthy cause,
Some to Shawinigan but none to the West -- just because.
When your appointees are paid to oversee your behavior,
Then the Ethics guy and RCMP could become your savior,
Because those you appoint owe their positions to you,
So their priorities are clear and they donít need for a clue.
And the media will forget it quickly; itís true,
Time and the trivia of the day got you out of that stew,
Though the national debt is as high as a satellite in the sky,
And the sixty-four cent dollar will never again fly.
But who cares if the country is doomed to dreadful demise,
If the system canít change your socialist Charter disguise,
If rogue refugees arrive every night claiming their rights,
Lounge lizard immigration lawyers meeting incoming flights.
