The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Advice to young men

Advice to young men

James Bredin

Some beautiful women have dispositions of snakes
And their beauty hides all this - dressed up like fruitcakes
And ignorant young men who think they know the score
Will have time to regret if they marry a nut or a whore

Therefore it’s important to live in sin a long time
And never mind that no one sings a nursery rhyme
And don’t make babies until you feel it’s a win win
‘Cause a mistake here and you’ll spin in chagrin

Love might play a role but it could indeed be a trap
Or you could slip out the door while she’s having a nap
But if you’re sure she’s the one, get down to city hall
Get that ring and a license and start having a ball
