The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Why Not euthanasia now?

Why Not euthanasia now?

by

James Bredin

Homicide is a crime except for a fetus baby,
Where those at the abortion clinic deal death and no maybe,
A pregnancy tissue, they call the little live baby boy,
As they stand around with knives and pliers to destroy.

But quick death is banned for those dying in agonizing pain,
Or for those with some sort of painful cancer of the brain,
No physician assisted suicide for terminally ill,
Where even animals or horses that are hurt, we can kill.

Oregon and Dutch legislatures allow euthanasia now,
A Canadian should take this to our Supreme Court to endow,
Euthanasia should be a Right for those who want a quick out,
Same rights as "Everyone" in the Charter without a doubt.

So if we take the Charter serious, this should be a concern,
Because a quick tidy death should be our right to discern.
Or do we need some political leaders with lots of guts?
To invoke the notwithstanding clause - no if ands or butts.
