The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Elane Plaza
Whatever happened to the Elane Plaza Scarborough Place?
One fine day it was gone and we were left without even a trace,
The developers built a development as developers do,
Now only the memories are left for the scattered few who knew.
The people, the places, the faces and the words then spoken?
Are now a mere memory as fleeting as a subway token,
Gone forever except for those who knew the people and the place,
Plus the merchants who made it all work as they rented their space.
Where’s the theater, butcher shop, barber shop and the pool hall?
Even the political room for our MPP if I recall,
Suddenly it’s gone and there seems to be something missing,
Why am I sitting here remembering and reminiscing?
