The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - The old Fart and the young tart
The old Fart and the young tart
Meandering through the mall,
You had no knowledge at all,
Microsecond in my mind,
Memories of another time.
Time warp back to Baltimore,
Another tart young no more,
Or was it in Antigonish?
I a youth and you a dish?
I saw it all in your fine face,
Mystery dreams, elegant grace,
Time meant nothing at all to you,
The game of life so brand new.
You glanced as if I wasn’t there,
I forced myself not to stare,
No seniors on your radar screen,
I -- locked in what might have been.
In Montreal I knew a lass,
Looked like you and went to mass,
And just like you she walked away,
Into forever without delay.
