The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Lethargic Canadian Liberals
Lethargic Canadian Liberals
A country united by unique and divisive divisions,
Muddling along with mediocre crooked politicians,
Delaying decisions, dilly dallying, along for the ride,
Shawinigan shenanigans, shoved silently aside.
Lethargy of the Liberals leaves us more than lacking
They talk tax and travel and we canít send them packing,
Mandarins with money minus morals to move,
Cold conflict of interest admitted, but not proved.
No binding referendums to stop socialist scandals,
No callback for politicians -- far away and in sandals,
No access to information to find out where they are,
Or what they are doing, being away so far.
And the cameras in parliament - but they so seldom sit,
Show the one who is talking and another little bit,
Not allowed to pan the room lined with empty seats
With media manipulation - no democratic defeats.
