The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Canadian Royal Tour 2002

Canadian Royal Tour 2002

by

James Bredin

A gorgeous female in a Mounty uniform looks strange indeed,
Guarding the Queen from trouble mounted on a mammoth big black steed,
And the smiling Prime Minister whispering out the side of his mouth.
What is it I should feel about this pompous and royal walk about?

ĎCause Iím not like the others - convinced that everything is good and great,
I believe that things could change and that maybe we should have some debate,
Iím not convinced that our prime minister should be prime minister for life,
Or that his Charter, which she signed, has not brought us lots of extra strife.
