The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Accountable Accountants of Kyoto

Accountable Accountants of Kyoto

James Bredin

He signed the Kyoto Accord today,
Of course it’s unknown who will pay,
They’ll celebrate together in New York,
Socialists and communists and the dork.

At the UN meeting they’ll all agree,
That’s all except the Americans you see,
Those jobs in Canada really don’t count,
And a sixty-cent dollar is a small amount.

And when the dollar drops to a dime,
And the jobs are gone for a very long time,
Will they tell us then that they’re so great?
Can we berate or should we celebrate?

At what point on this road will we know for sure?
We’re in deep do do and there is no cure,
Conflict of interest is a criminal case,
Disciplined politicians away off base.

With the cops in hand and the ethics guy,
Appointed positions and a need to lie,
Appointed judges with their Charter
Never more nerds since Jimmy Carter.

And slowly now as the factories close,
Politicians ponder but fail to disclose,
The Access Act has us all in a cage,
These disciplined disciples still get their wage.
