The Web Poetry Corner - Helen Paquin - War Overhead
War Overhead
by
Helen Paquin
Fighting, ever fighting,
She catches his fist
She runs down stairs
Crying out-
Again, and again
Upstairs...
Sounds like war
Loud thump-thumps
Footsteps run on stairs
Crying out-
Thump-thump-thump!
Someone tumbling down
Loud thumps overhead
Fighting again?
Fist hitting flesh?
One wonders when
The headlines
Will screech her name
NEXT?
Why don't you look at
