The Web Poetry Corner - Helen Paquin - The Search

The Search

by

Helen Paquin

A squirrel ran in a car
One day on an afternoon
And the search soon began
With fine comb and
Whisky broom...

Folks searched all over
That squirrel had every name
But with a squirrelly squirrel
They play a squirrelly game

The folks knew that very soon
Jessee would need his car
They searched round and round
High and low, up and down
And where the ashtrays are

Then Jessee came along
All neat and fancy trim
Right then and there
They found that squirrel
When Jessee sat on him
