The Web Poetry Corner - Helen Paquin - Long Ago

Long Ago

by

Helen Paquin

The Lord said,
"The trees have been
Green long enough
And color would
Look great there"
Then He blew
Upon the earth
And a chill came
To the air-
And oh, the trees
Bloomed with color
Red, gold, and
Orange hued leaves-
That stayed awhile
To make such
Stunning glorious trees!
He did this for a
Soothing touch
Through seasons to recall,
He knew we'd want
Awesome trees
Just like that-
Each and every Fall
