The Web Poetry Corner - Helen Paquin - Darkness Hovers

Darkness Hovers

by

Helen Paquin

It's an effort
To live these days
With those who
Rob, kill, and lie-
You try to hold
Your head above water
But your confidence
Soon drains dry

You work for
Nothing, it seems
And nothing to right
Is ever done-
It's an effort
To live these days
Too many dark clouds
Shadow our sun...
