The Web Poetry Corner - Helen Paquin - Battered Clay
Battered Clay
by
Helen Paquin
As a bit of clay
I never stood a chance
Some things just
Aren't meant to be-
For through the years
I strayed too far
Cursed by this life
Handed to me
Like milk that falls
Unto the floor
Where it's said,
"Don't bother to cry"
Looking at me
A sorry waste-
Why waste water
In an eye?
Seems it's hopeless
Day by day...
So sharp the thorns
Along this path;
There are no birds
To sing to me- Only
the devil's wicked laugh
NEXT?
Why don't you look at
