The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - Young Once

Young Once

by

Hay Machine

Young sweet duffled innocents
absorbing lives
dancing targets
cut by sharpened knives

Young soft cared-for progeny
no past no hindsight
philosophical about their outlook
resigned about their plight

Swarming capacities
trading innocence for disappointment
finding love for themselves
in the burnt-out ruins of their forefathers
