Why Sleeping Dogs
by
Hay Machine
The Spaniel in us all is every single bit as bad
as the knee-jerk Jeckle barking at his Hyde
what is this trait the mark of Homer Simpson we possess
concealed in cocker's wardrobe at impressive home address
the thing that drives the lover to prepare the sharpened axe
as behaviour passes through the norm and shatters former cracks
It's the nature in our nature
the cave within our homes
the lusting in our bodies
and the craving in our bones
