The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - What Next

What Next

by

Hay Machine

Genetically modified Mary Quinn
without her essentials unable to sin
she looks like her mother
with eyes made from grapes
her hair is the heather
round dinosaur lakes

Conceived on a laptop when William Whitecoats
digitally inseminated thirteen old goats
gestation complete in a cage in the dark
at two in the morning a goat was heard bark
bless me this instant proud father refrained
a daughter with horns and a whiskers I'm made

Unusual Mary unusually hairy
was free from all known viral dire
expected to live to a thousand and eight
she was tied to a post
that was chained to a gate

Nine years have gone by since I ate any fruit
that an insect right-minded would lick
tomatoes are red with no flavour to taste
the texture is terrapin-shell in dried paste
God bless us and save us and pardon our sin
for undoing nature and poor Mary Quinn
