Theory of Relativity
by
Hay Machine
It stood to reason all this time
other worlds with life and circumstances
swinging in eternal rhyme
and we whom Christopher Columbus served so well
were all reluctant to have this story tell
that longer lives and greater thoughts
were endlessly awash along the endless way
without intent all mocking our stupidity
In childhood version of a Heaven place
of state of everlasting time and concept of eternal grace
soul development and exploration then ever more refined
than all the slavish drudgery of rat repeated lines
what might or should be waiting at the gate
a strategy to fill the larder fuller without taste
this loss of childish oneness with the universe
explains the later craving for attention and life's love
it puts before us explanation of capacity
a metaphor the vastness of the heaven space above
Relativity is at present stood upon its head
the lines we speak the music and the buried dead
compared with endless everything they are
as close as you can get to nothing without getting there
and in the meantime all this worldly burden alters
it turns to heaven here on earth where every mortal falters
burden for the ageing parents their inner thoughts themselves
added grief their babies left these new depressing certainties
