The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - Ice Pop

Ice Pop

by

Hay Machine

Thick juicy orange ice pop in a bag and perched upon a stick
thin brittle chocolate cover on the top you'd love to bite but choose to lick
reluctant paper wrapper frozen stiff
peel remaining paper stalagmites (as if)

Raise the sweetest melting orange frost
slurp with curling tongue and sucking lips so none is lost
the sun-warmed dribbling juicy orange drips
underneath the gusset near the orange icepop sticks

Wide open mouth closed tight to clasp the tantalising top
pull the chocolate cap count two then crack the crispy crop
all the world eclipsed by torrent orange flavour'd streams
time and climaxed thirst quenched far beyond their wildest dreams

Slow smaller shrinking sweeter centre stump
slipping up the stick in one soft lip-sucked lump
here she comes
the moment just before complete fulfilment's lick
the final orange moist bit dripping slowly down along the orange icepop stick
