The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - Hero Heroin

Hero Heroin

by

Hay Machine

Walking out from Mountown flats
To bring a child to School on Tivoli
Prescription deep in the stinking jacket pocket
A far cry from everywhere

We stole his rightful passage
When the blueprint of his life was left unread
And then with used syringe we did inject
A spotless vein with poisonous neglect

With black desire and empty brain
Controlled and wailing ailing crazed insane
He moves along a hunter sore and lost
The white and silver trainers more than all he ever cost

Stealing trinkets from our past
He kills his pain and takes the pleasure fast
Sick and wretched symptom of our time
Revealed, the tortured victim of our crime
