The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - Fried Eggs

Fried Eggs

by

Hay Machine

Oooh!
hen-laid eggs
dropped
softly down
on feather-foul'd floor
hot stink of birdheat
the sawdust litter
scattered
in the dark and damp
straw-sodden hut
chicken and hen-run dung
warm pearly solitary lamp
cord-hung

Hand in
slid under half-hinged door
scatter-roused flutter-flap
natural start of day
butter the pan
and set the breakfast tray
thumbnails egg-wet
sidecracking the warm wonders
ease them empty
into their own sizzling thunders

Oooh!
sweet nausea
not natural
aboriginal
slippery yoke begets
pungent sick tummy-pulp
