Executive Stress

Using the brain as a breakpad
to resist the course of others
continuing an independent path
instead of that
laid out by mothers

The seeming endless flow
of other people's themes
takes its wearing toll slowly
like the wear
and tear you get on denim jeans

The spongy breakpad wears
right through to the rivet
past a final weafer layer
taken now
that which once it giveth

Learn to lance with broken shield
and armour holed from waring
teach your horse to dance and dive
steadfast
wine for pouring
