The Web Poetry Corner - Hay Machine - Christmas Drinks

Christmas Drinks

by

Hay Machine

Christmas drinks how wonderful of course we'd love to come
gin and tonic absolutely this year we're at home
stop cut that out it's very nice they thought of us again
especially since you never ever ever speak to them

Gin and tonic number eight the fat one looks fantastic
Christmas comes but once a year and if I had a lighthouse
I'd whistle and sing should those acquaintance be forgot
thanks cheers yeah sure (fart) let the dog see the rabbit

There you are it's all a game (my coat's upstairs the same again)
excesses this year might remind them
don't invite them drink will blind them
ashes tapped and carpet stain
dropped canapes and insult rain
next year precious pray remind me
If they are coming don't invite me
