The Web Poetry Corner - Hardy Parkerson - Stranded By the Road
Stranded By the Road
by
Hardy Parkerson
I'm stranded by the road,
Carryin' a heavy load;
Just waitin' for a man
To lend a helpin' hand.
It's hard bein' poor:
No cables for my car.
You must have money first,
But I've and empty purse.
New cars whiz right on by;
They honk and then I cry;
I'm stranded by the road
And carryin' a heavy load.
I used the telephone
And placed a call to home
To see if someone was able
To bring some jumper cables.
Just stranded by the road,
And carryin' a heavy load;
Just waitin' for a man
To lend a helpin' hand.
