The Web Poetry Corner - Hardy Parkerson - Hardy On Becomin' A Poet
Hardy On Becomin' A Poet
by
Hardy Parkerson
Others write them.
I just read them
And recite them;
Recite the poems that others write.
But my own I cannot fashion,
'Though I keep tryin'
With a passion
To write a poem that' mine.
will I ever quit this trying'?
Trying, trying,
Failing, sighing,
Trying a poet to become?
No, I'm sure I shall not quit it.
I'll keep trying,
'Till I get it:
'Till a poet I become.
If I keep my mind upon it,
Perhaps some day I'll write a sonnet;
Then all the world at last will know it:
That I have beomce a poet.
