The Web Poetry Corner - Gaele Arnott - The camphor Laurel Tree

The camphor Laurel Tree

by

Gaele Arnott

Outside my window
stands
a tree of magical beauty.
The leaves of this Camphor :aure; sing to me
of the ancient wisdoms
handed from generation to generation
through the soles of all the feet
in service to mankind

It is not a native of this land.
It's ancestor came, from the Orient
to bring a piece of home to this "new" land.
This land which is almost as old as time itself
and holds within the soils
a wisdom as yet untold.

The faeires and other "wee" folk
dance amongst the foliage
of this Camphor Laurel Tree.
They tell me that they bring the magic
needed by all humanity.
This magic, if we but knew it,
is as simple as laughing
with the magic from the tree.

In various shades of blues and pinks
of violets and of greens,
in colours as yet not comprehended
by the mind of man,
the faeires dance to the tunes of light
and heal the earth with their sound
- of laughter
- and joy.

They fill my heart with love,
to pass and share
with you.

I love you.
