In a Wave of Silent compassion
by
Gabrielle Bajuscik
pyramid steps of ancient flesh
stepping up
a new emotion
stepping through the glass
each one different until at last I
too reach the top
breathing out , breathing in
fingers long and steady hold in my air
so I might breathe while toxins eagerly
slip away
expand my cells to the farthest reaches of the
unknown world
cut through the atmosphere
and the spread the color of creation to every single star
back into my body
back into the neatly engineered muscles
and the carefully sculpted bones
hope, hostility pressed together in a
silent wave of compassion
