The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - Toby.

Toby.

by

Fred Mason

If Toby were human he would probably be a clown.
Wearing his underpants on his head while sitting upside-down.
Or perhaps an opera singer on a grand scale.
Sharing with others his talented wail.
He could have been a judge with a wig on his head.
Except he never went to school;he played the wag instead.

Toby could have joined the Police Force, and upheld the law.
But stealing from a butchers shop was a major flaw.
Wearing horned rimmed spectacles,he looked very wise indeed.
That was because he was short-sighted.In fact he could'nt read.
He probably would have become a coal-miner and dug all through the day.
Wearing a miners hat to show him the way.
