The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - Elephant.

Elephant.

by

Fred Mason

If you find an elephant in your garden.
Don't say "I beg your pardon".
Give it cucumber sandwiches and lashings of lemonade.
Then hand him a hoe and a spade.
Both hedges and trees he will trim.
Gardens and lawns. As neat as a pin.
He will eat all the trimmings with great zest,
leaving you fertilizer for the vege's.The very best.
When all the work is done. It'll be time to say goodaye
The elephant will thank you, in an elephant like way.
