The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - The Race

The Race

by

Fred Mason

Faster and faster ran they.
Past anybody that was in the way.
Over the hill and along the straight.
Using all the energy they could create.
With the finnish line in their sight.
They ran with all their might.

The roar of the crowd was all they could hear.
As the finnish line drew near.
One last effort.One last stride.
The winner was full of pride.
He lay on the ground, his heart pumping like mad.
His chest heaving in and out.Not to tired to be glad.
