The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - Sounds of the Sea

Sounds of the Sea

by

Fred Mason

I listened to the sound of the waves that
ever so gently sped up the sand then slowly trickled back.
Leaving it covered with bubbles
that burst and popped, and my troubles
seemed to disappear

I listened to the sound of the gulls that shrieked in their melancholy way, ever circling and diving.and never, never
giving up their search for food. And when they had finished eating they would stand.
Somtimes on one leg with eyes closed, perhaps to sleep.Whil'st would band
together and bully the one who had the food.

The waves and the gulls, are they listening to me as i stand there, alone in my thoughts?.Apparantly without a care.
A poet once said you are never alone by the sea.
Never alone because thoughts are a companion for thee and me.
