The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - Marilyn the Rat and the Poet

Marilyn the Rat and the Poet

by

Fred Mason

Marilyn.Bruce.Prue and i were in the kitchen.Cards we were playing.
When all of a sudden a small rustling noise was heeded.
"Hush.Hush"Said Prue."I think i hear a mouse praying".
Bruce immediately lifted his feet."Where is it?"He pleaded.

"It seems to be coming from the welsh-dresser".Said the Poet.
Marilyn explored the area."It's not a mouse,it's a rat".She said.
"We have equipment to catch a mouse"Said Prue."But not a rat, would'nt you know it".
"It's dark in that corner"Said the poet."We'll find it or my names not Fred".

THe Poet and Marilyn with a trouble light on a cord, led the way.
"Only the brave go forewards".Marilyn Bravely stated.
But the Poet was clumsy, tripped and collided with Marilyn, halting all attempts to enter the flay.
The bulb was smashed and all their efforts abated
