The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - Lorene's Revenge

Lorene's Revenge

by

Fred Mason

"This time i know it's not a dream. It's daytime and i can feel the sun on my back".
"And look whats comming down the road.I can't believe it.A pink Cadilac".
"Iv'e just come back from Memphis just to say i still love you Lorene".
"Don't be cruel it must be a daydream".
"This ain't no daydream baby".
"I've just composed this song for my lady".
Lorene watched as Elvis tuned up his guitar.
"Last song i wrote was for my Ma".
"This ones for you honey'.
When the angels in heaven chose a queen.
They said her name would be Lorene.
With white doves flying high above.
And our hearts are filled with love.
"I don't want to hear any more".Said Lorene.Pinching herself again.
"I want you to stop your refrain".
"We'll both hit the road together and our life will become serene".
"Hurry.Hurry before Marilyn comes along and tells me it's all a dream".
