The Web Poetry Corner - Fred Mason - In Ruins.

In Ruins.

by

Fred Mason

An old brick chimney stands alone,
The garden long since neglected and overgrown.
Some flowers still remain...
Memories!trying to retain.

Like this for fifty years more or less.
Only the scent of memories to caress.
I wandered were once others had been.
Overgrown by wild flowers, quiet and serene.

Just what had happened?.I did not know.
Only that it was destroyed by fire, the evidence did show.
Sometimes i can imagine how it used to be.
A small cottage with dinners flavours wafting from the chimney.
