The Web Poetry Corner - Faye Hoffman - The Night

The Night

by

Faye Hoffman

Days go by,
and I barely make it through.
I keep holding on,
trying not to think of you.

But in the night,
old feelings come along,
and once I think of you,
I know I won't last long.

I keep holding on,
but there's nothing I can do.
That's when I break down,
and start crying over you.

In the night,
while sitting all alone,
I can't stop crying,
I know this time you're gone.

I'm all broken down.
My heart is torn into.
I know it's over now,
I know this time ,we're through.

So we'll go on our own,
and I'll keep standing tall.
But when it turns to night,
I know the tears will fall.
