The Web Poetry Corner - Faye Hoffman - Jonathon
Jonathon
by
Faye Hoffman
A day like always,
we all know how that feels.
Working nothing but overtime,
trying to pay the bills.
My daughters boyfriend answers for,
cops knocking at my door.
They're wanting information,
but they won't say what for.
I have to hear it on the streets,
rumors flying everywhere.
They say my friend O.D.ed last night,
but does anyone really care?
I start calling,asking questions.
There's an aching in my head.
I'm in pain from all my crying,
I can't believe my friend is dead.
Sometimes it's a hard life,
and you wouldn't want to know,
the way my friend went out of here,
was a hard way to go.
Talking to the devil,
trying to make a deal.
Walking down the dead mans walk,
waiting for the kill.
