The Web Poetry Corner - Faye Hoffman - House of Pain

House of Pain

by

Faye Hoffman

You start out in this world,
thinking you know,
what you'll do in life,
which way you'll go.

Watching things pass before you,
looking for rewards overdue.
Wondering when your days are over.
Waiting for it to all be through.

I'm in a house of pain,
trying not to go insane.
Just memories,and counting days,
where nothing else remains.

Drowning in a world of sorrow.
Where you are in no-never tomorrows.
There's no place here for me,
and even less time left to borrow.

Living out my days,
in a prison -like domain.
Where memories give way,
in a House of Pain.
