The Web Poetry Corner - Faye Hoffman - Hiding

Hiding

by

Faye Hoffman

What kind of life,
do you think you live,
when your life is almost over,
and there's nothing left to give?

Constantly changing,
never to blame.
Looking behind you,
still doing the same.

Always hiding in fear,
not knowing anyone.
Watching and waiting,
until the darkness is gone.

Chasing a ghost,
that you can't kill.
Chasing a past,
that's not even real.

It's a high price that you're paying,
for your sins of long ago.
Captured in a trap of your own making.
By a ghost that won't let go.
