The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Voices From Our Shattered Past
Voices From Our Shattered Past
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
Make-believe playmates
Still bearing
The scars of childhood
Romp and frolic together now
Thru meadows sweet.
Where tender flower petals
Of faded hue
Lie scattered like wishes unspoken.
Amidst the goldening leaves of forgetfulness.
Soft
In the distance
Unsure footsteps
Venture off
Into the darkening woods.
Where never a bird sings
In which the bare trees shake with cold remembrance.
Where unseen eyes watch every sparrow fall
Hidden within the twisted knarled shapes
Of hollow secrets.
A poem about child abuse
