Undaunted

Let us go out in a manner glorious like unto heros
And demigods of old.
Who at life's end, would snatch firebrands
From off the blazing funeral pyre
And hurl them into the face of the frowning sky
With teeth clench'ed.
Then let us climb as they did
To the top of the tallest mountain
Inhale the storm clouds
And speak with a voice of thunder.
Who when confronted by the merciless decrees of fate
Would sieze the jagged bolt of divine wrath
And hurl it back
From whence it came.
In a flash of courage like unto theirs
We'll descend into the volcano's raging furnace
And forge ourselves a new destiny.
Beating it into shape
Upon the anvil of human suffering.
The sparks whereof
Would make us immortal.
Then when faced with insurrountable odds
Let us too, bend our bows to the sky
And with bowstrings drawn back to bursting point
Release our flaming arrows of determination
Into the very heart of the sun
And bring him down from his starry throne.
Then into that vacant seat we will climb
And like mighty Titans of old
Scream our names
Into the blazing cosmos of infinity
The echo of which
Would ring through
The known universe
And into the memories of all mankind
For ages and ages to come.
