The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Tragic Stage
Tragic Stage
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
Sometimes I hold myself hostage at pencil point
A performance player in the theater of my mind
It's all an act.
Like some clay faced character I stare expressionless
At the interflowing of light and shadows on the wall
Trapped within the loose binding net of illusions
I struggle to free myself
And tear a hole in the fabric of my own delicate fallacies
Then for a time
I emerge into the true shape of myself
But then another trap door opens in front of me
Another slap in the face from the heavy callused hand of fate
And I am forced once more to don the clever disguise
Of happiness and unconcern
Which hides the inner mask of torture I wear
While I remain here
Behind the drawn curtains of isolation.
NEXT?
Why don't you look at
My heart is full of thoughts
