The Seasons of Change
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
It was Springtime, when
Daphne sunned by the river
God, giver of life, overflowing
Banks and we all moved further
Inland, to rest under the cool shade of trees
Sloping towards the hill verge
Where bright freedom awaited us in the guise
Of maniacs dancing with their shadows.
Then Summer came and
Leaving off our fell pleasures
We descended into the valleydeeps
Explored the ancient labrinths
Discovered ourselves to monsters
Became one with them
Till heros appeared
Barely disquising their thin forms
Behind war-cry of desolation.
Then came the Fall
We held our ground
Swords flashing like fire
Enveloping the night
With whispered tales
Of electrifying glory.
We came so far
But didn't give an inch
Then the seasons changed
And Winter came
Bringing with it, images
Of our melting greatness.
