The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Shattered Snow Globes
Shattered Snow Globes
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
Is it not sad
How we try to capture
The dying breath of Christmas
In a fragile teardrop
Formed from lonliness?
Looking into
Its delicate reality
We see frozen likenesses
Of ourselves.
Carefully posed
In holiday settings
Devoid of life.
Then, like some lofty Titan
In whose clumsy hands
The Universe sits.
The whims of fate
Shake our world violently.
Stirring up fearful tempests
Thru which we wander on blindly
Unsure of every step.
As one hope
After another
Slips from our grasp.
And our little world
Comes crashing down.
Lying there
In broken dreamshards
Before us.
And we try to dream again.
