Seed of Pain

Death being hungry
Goes forth
To feed

In passing he plucks
A morsel
From the human breed

With a swipe
Of his sickle
He completes the deed

And afterwards
He drops
A tiny seed

It takes root
Shoots up
And begins to grow

Watered by the tears
That broken hearts
Sow

It absorbs
The warm sunlight
From kind fragrant words

It's remembered
In the flightsong
Of soul bearing birds
In hope it's nourished
As the wind
Waits and sighs

In the spring
It brings forth
Sweet nectar
For the butterflies

Whose life
It returns again
After it dies.
