The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Returnings

Returnings

by

Dwayne Pagnotto

Its sacred union with the sky completed
The earth heaves and sighs
In a misty orgasm.
Receasing
Strange spirits into the night.

Like departed loved ones
They hover close to our memories
Fanning their wings back and forth
Graceful and swanlike like in motion.

Then gently they enfold all of our dreams
And lay them down to sleep with the stars.

Bidding us farewell now
They whisper off into the silver shades of evening
Floating away upon the soft nesting clouds of angels.

This poem and the one preceeding it are based on two movies I saw.
