My Make Believe World

I want to find in my life
One small piece of untouched forestland
Where I can explore and be at peace
With myself and nature.

In this place I would create a world
Full of imaginary characters
Who would love me.

They would understand my deep need
To have people around me
Whose lives I could touch
And perhaps improve in some small way.

There, the beginning of each new day
Would bring with it a different adventure
And a feeling of wonder
For simple things.

A sense of caring
Would always be present there

And loneliness wouldn't.

A Garden of Eden?
No.
Just a simple place
Where I could return
To the days of my childhood

When once upon a time
Innocence filled my days
With laughter

And happiness was a quiet whisper
In my heart.
