The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Floating Promises
Floating Promises
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
The sad
Tear-filled
Clouds
Linger above us.
They change shapes sometimes.
One cloud
Is bright and beautiful
Tinged with all the colors
Of Creation's first sunrise.
The other cloud
Is dark and gloomy
Swept along by storms
Of sorrow and doubt.
They reach out to each other.
They try and hold on
Yes, they try and hold on.
But then a contrary breeze
Forces them apart
Again.
They briefly touch
In passing.
Sometimes just a smile.
Or a well-meant glance
Of care
And understanding.
Then the drifting continues.
But wait
Suddenly the weather clears
The Sun is shining again.
One more chance to make it happen.
They get closer
Hold hands
Kiss
And embrace.
Then they let go.
Is it forever?
Maybe so.
But as they drift apart
They leave tiny trails behind
So that perhaps
One day
They can find their way
Back to each other
If ever the Wind changes.
