The Web Poetry Corner - Dwayne Pagnotto - Dancing With A Dream
Dancing With A Dream
by
Dwayne Pagnotto
What I love most about her
Is not her voice
Tho she could enchant the angels with a whispered lullaby.
It's not her eyes
Tho they be scattered with glittering stars
More lovely to gaze upon than Heaven.
It's not her hair
Tho it shimmers like frosted gold and is softer than the breath of a swan.
It's not her caress
Tho it is more tender-sweet than the touch of moonlight to my soul.
It's not her lips
Tho they belong to a goddess and taste more luscious than honey-wine.
No.
It's none of those.
What I love most about her
Is her wings.
I love how they enfold me completely whenever we kiss.
I love the way they flutter gently as I touch her cheek.
And I love the way they open to greet the sun when she awakens.
But most of all
I love the way they arc upwards
Towards the sky
Whenever she sings
About how she's mine.
