The Web Poetry Corner - Dr. John Celes - Sonnet- The Aging World

Sonnet- The Aging World

by

Dr. John Celes

Our earth is going bald, losing its trees!
The people turning greyer as years pass;
Tornadoes come often; there is no breeze!
The old citizens forming larger mass.

Just as in politics, older men thrive!
Despite brain-atrophy, they think a lot;
Eccentric demeanor keeps them alive;
As some have turned into a mere zealot.

The world employs old men, paying them less,
And tries to suppress younger men, women;
The aged look better off nevertheless!
I wonder if the same is in Heaven.

And Geriatrics is much sought a field;
The world is bothered not about to its yield.
